Contexte

The MSF Eastern Africa Media Fellowship 2026 is now open to journalists based and publishing in Eastern Africa who are interested in producing impactful stories about humanitarian and health challenges across the region. The programme, organized by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Eastern Africa, provides selected journalists with specialized training, access to MSF projects and experts, and support for reporting on important humanitarian issues. The 2026 fellowship is open to eligible journalists in Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Tanzania, with applications closing on 8 September 2026. The MSF Eastern Africa Media Fellowship was launched to strengthen the ability of journalists to report accurately and compellingly on humanitarian and health issues affecting communities across the region.

Humanitarian emergencies involving conflict, displacement, infectious diseases, malnutrition, and limited access to healthcare can be difficult to cover. Journalists working in these environments require not only strong reporting skills but also a deeper understanding of the humanitarian context. The fellowship therefore brings journalists closer to MSF’s field operations and medical expertise. Through training and practical reporting opportunities, fellows can develop nuanced stories that highlight underreported crises and give greater visibility to communities affected by emergencies. The programme also seeks to strengthen the relationship between humanitarian organizations and the media, creating a network of informed journalists capable of contributing to evidence-based public discussions.
