Contexte

Got a background in planning, monitoring, or donor reporting? UNESCO just opened a fully remote international consultancy — and the deadline is closer than you think.

If you work in results-based management, institutional planning, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), donor reporting, or project management, pay attention: the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) has just opened a four-month international consultancy that’s almost entirely remote — with one short trip to Montreal built in. Here’s everything you need to know before the window closes.

Why This UNESCO Consultancy Matters

The UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) is the organization’s official source of internationally comparable data across education, science, culture, and communication. Right now, it’s facing a temporary staffing gap in a critical function — and needs an experienced hand to keep planning, monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and resource mobilization running smoothly.

The consultant hired for this role will work directly with senior management, helping keep institutional priorities aligned with UNESCO’s broader strategic goals and international accountability standards.

Missions et responsabilités

This isn’t a passive advisory role — the consultant becomes a key part of keeping UNESCO’s planning and reporting engine running without interruption. Core responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating annual and biennial institutional work plans
  • Supporting results-based management and performance monitoring
  • Maintaining planning tools, dashboards, and SharePoint platforms
  • Tracking organizational risks and audit recommendations
  • Coordinating evaluations and organizational learning activities
  • Drafting corporate, statutory, and donor reports
  • Supporting donor engagement and fundraising initiatives
  • Advising managers on planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting
  • Preparing templates, guidance documents, and final handover materials

A Major Focus: Resource Mobilization and Donor Relations

One of the standout priorities of this consultancy is strengthening UNESCO’s fundraising pipeline. Expect to be involved in:

  • Confirming and prioritizing the donor pipeline
  • Supporting proposal and concept note development
  • Identifying funding gaps
  • Assisting with donor reporting
  • Developing an outline for an external-facing UNESCO annual report highlighting institutional achievements and future priorities

What You’re Expected to Deliver

By the end of the four-month assignment, the consultant should have produced:

  • Quality-assured institutional work plans
  • Updated monitoring dashboards
  • Consolidated programme performance reports
  • Risk registers and audit tracking updates
  • Programme management induction sessions
  • Donor pipeline documentation
  • Funding proposals and concept notes
  • A final handover package with tools, templates, and guidance materials

  • Experience in results-based management and organizational planning
  • Corporate or donor reporting experience
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
