Contexte
The United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) has opened applications for the 2027-2028 Fulbright-Nehru Student Research Fellowships, offering U.S. students an opportunity to undertake independent research in India. The fellowship is designed for motivated scholars seeking to strengthen their academic expertise, develop international research experience and gain deeper insight into India’s diverse social, cultural, academic and professional environments.
The programme allows selected fellows to design and conduct their own research projects while collaborating with recognised Indian institutions. Applications are welcomed across academic and professional fields, with particular encouragement for projects connected to areas of strategic interest to the United States and India.
The Fulbright-Nehru Student Research Fellowship provides an opportunity for U.S. students to spend an extended period in India undertaking research aligned with their academic and professional interests.
Fellows develop their own research proposals, allowing them to establish projects that are relevant to their academic objectives. The programme also encourages interdisciplinary, comparative and policy-oriented research, particularly among applicants from the arts, humanities and social sciences.
The fellowship can provide valuable international exposure while enabling researchers to engage directly with Indian scholars, practitioners, institutions and communities.
